Kane runs both servers to be 24/7. If its down, then there's either a network issue (usually on the players' end) or the server has crashed for some reason. Kane does monitor this thread and will bring the server back up as soon as possible.
Its unusual that its only the industrial craft server that has crashed, I guess thats why he thought it may be down for maintenance, although unlikely in the thick of Diablo 3 aha.
Yes, the IC does crash more often than the build server, but it is a modded server with 40+ plugins/mods. It still has over 99% uptime over the last few months.
That doesn't seem quite right, in order to have above 99% uptime it would need to be only down for about 22 hours over the last 3 months. Given that it only crashes once a week (very generous) it would mean that kane would have to revive it in about 2 hours or less. That doesn't even include things like updates/maintenance which can take considerably longer. Not trying to pick a fight or anything, just bored waiting for the server to be fixed and diablo to download
IC server is back up. The crash was caused by looping teleport pipes. Yay. We fixed it by removing teleport pipes within render distance of -416, -512 +-50 blocks (so within 150 of those co-ords your teleport pipes will be missing, possibly invisible). Very sorry about this, I noticed some chests outside my sorting building full of cobblestone, I assume this cobble was all the entitys. I looked at all my pipes and it all seemed to be fine, I've seen a few stray cobble on that side of the glass before. So what I think has happened is the cobble is not being affected by the glass and is able to pass right though it. I've changed the way my pipes are facing and it should all be put right into lava now. I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't reappear.
Try joining other free servers out there. It might be your firewall , internet connection(ISP port blocking) or MC.net. If you can connect to other free servers out there then it might be MC.net or Godcraft server . Otherwise your PC, connection or firewall.
